Ideas worth exploring
Short reflections inspired by the College's 2026 tenth-anniversary magazine and student engagement presentation.
Why does student voice matter?
A good representative does more than collect complaints. They listen to different views, identify patterns, raise matters constructively and report back on what happened. A small improvement can make a real difference when students know their views have been heard.
Think about it: How would you make sure quieter classmates have a chance to contribute?

Belonging is something we create
Students arrive at college with different backgrounds, responsibilities and strengths. A welcoming event or society should consider the people who might find it hardest to take part. That could mean choosing an accessible venue, explaining what to expect or offering more than one way to join in.
Think about it: Who might be missing from your next activity, and why?

Leadership begins with one useful action
Student leadership need not begin with a title. It might begin with welcoming someone new, gathering an idea for a society or helping to organise an activity. Good leaders share the work, ask for help and follow through on what they promise.
Think about it: What is one practical improvement you could help make this month?
